Mark, I think Craig McCaw's primary focus right now is Teledesic, where he is chairman and CEO.

Nextlink is building an end to end local and long distance national telecommunications network using fiber and broadband wireless to bypass the RBOC's. When complete, the network will provide the most cost efficient method to reach businesses, with an estimated 70% of it's traffic on it's network. They will compete directly with MCI/Worldcom, AT&T and Sprint.

In my opinion Nextlink and Nextel will merge at some point to provide local, long distance, and wireless voice and data (fixed and mobile) bundled services. No other telecommunications company will have these attributes.

Obviously I don't foresee Nextel being sold. Why would McCaw put these assets together, only to sell part of them to a competitor?

By offering complete, efficient bundled services, they will be able to lick the competition.
