Thanks for your thoughtful and carefully detailed answers. As a long term holder and observer I tend to agree with you, though you provided several fresh insights. The industrial use of healthy IQ microprocessors and microcontrollers should show very substantial growth.

One quick point. I asked

2) Will Intel's non-PC ventures maintain the growth of both revenues and profits?

What I meant by that question was not Intel's investments which are, in my opinion, exactly what you suggested - ways for intel to foster technologies that might stimulate pc demand and usage and to keep their "intelligence" level high. What I did mean was growth in the other areas of products they are into -everything from Create and Share to Networking products. Sorry if I was unclear or ambiguous.

Thanks again and good investing,
Burt

Hi Mary,

re: "Intel stock will sell at discount to the S&P."

Is this true? I had thought with the PE expansion these past few months that Intel now sold at a slight premium to the S&P (as they should [un understatement]). I could be wrong, but I thought the S&P was at about 30p/e.

Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Chris

Mary, Re: "Intel is managed by intelligent grown ups with grown up mentality ( as opposed to MSFT - run by intelligent grown ups with juvenile mentality."

I was not aware you knew every manager at Microsoft?

Anyone I know?

Intel is managed by intelligent grown ups with grown up mentality ( as opposed to MSFT - run by intelligent grown ups with juvenile mentality). Anything that can be humanly anticipated will be dealt with by Intel managment in the most rational manner

Hey, I think we need some juvenile mentality at Intel!!!<g>
Just see what MSFT stock has done in the past few years. Even now, it is at an all time high (hit 500 billion market cap today--1st company ever to do this). Tech wreck or not---lawsuit or not----and still at its all time high!
All this while they are getting a beating in the court. Something to think about

BTW-I know i have simplified it but "grown up" management is not necessarily the best----just check with IBM when they were getting beaten by Microsoft a few years. I remember interviews of Microsoft employees on TV back then (in casual clothing), making fun of the suits at IBM. I am serious, they were making fun of the conservative dress codes at IBM. A fellow graduate applying for a job at IBM had to go out and buy a conservative suit for the interview (around 1987). In that time period, conservative clothing meant grown up----Microsoft did a lot to change that in my opinion.
I might have gone off topic just a little. sorry.
