"a split does cause volatility to go up"

my opinion is that it was settlement speculation.

in any event, with volatility at 50, i sold april 100 calls for .8125 and bought them back today, when volatility dropped to 37, at the same price even though my underlying shares rose from 87 to 93 in three trading days.

so now long the options are a good play. calls or puts depending on your point of view.
