Heinz, you state: everyone long this stock knows in his heart that
fundamentally it's way overvalued

I don't! There is so much that I disagree with in your post that it is hard to know where to start. Certainly, I am cautious and said so when it was reported that DG and Sumitomo sold some shares.

But, has it has been said so often, the internet is not about fundamentals - not yet. It is about potential, and where technology is taking us - for good or bad.

For CMGI you have both management and synergy. Sure it will be harder and I do agree that the days of the 35000% return are probably over - but that is just phase 1. The strong will survive and get stronger and I expect CMGI to survive. It should still be a very profitable investment

And if you want to see 'overvalued' point your mouse over at AMZN, ABOV, EBAY, or for that matter, LU, CSCO, SUNW, and dozens of others.

If your are frightened get out or go short. If you want fundamentals look at GM or Hershey. But for me, this one is still core.

So when did you short CMGI? Your scare tactics will not work with yours truly and I for one know your intentions are not for the good of CMGI longs but for your own monetary benefit. CMGI is a unique internet play and the future is far better than you portray. I believe CMGI is in a consolidation period and will break out to new highs before the announced split in May.

i first learned of CMGI about 1 year
ago from Individual Investor. it has
been a great stock to own and still
have a small position.

its kinda funny when you do a CMGI
search here on SI, everyone has found
the next CMGI!

i dont want to be guilty of the same
thing, but i wanted to know if anyone
here has heard of a company with CMGI
type qualities-Ziasun (ZSUN). this company
is Asian related and has a international
online brokerage, an Asian auction website,
an Asian ISP, an Asian search engine, etc.

the stock has recently been "discovered".
it seems like an intriguing company, but
am having a difficult time trying to decide
what type of valuation it deserves. it
certainly has a lot of potential. i was
wondering if anyone here had any opinoins
on ZSUN.

thanks,

IMO for the shortterm, the health of the internet IPO market should be considered in order to project CMGi's price swings BUT in the longer term, real businesses are being created of which CMGi will probably continue to hold a share - i don't think anyone will be left holding the bag in the next millenium

for example, for these companies below, CMGi has a wholly owned equivalent and these are only 3 of their 40 or so businesses - of course, you have to consider that these companies are the current leaders in their respective niches and CMGi will have to do some catching up - BUT check out recent news and hiring and you know that they are well on their way

DCLK 3.64 billion mkt. cap vs. ADSMART
EXDS 2.84 billion mkt. cap vs. NAVINET/SITE
BCST 3.88 billion mkt. cap vs. MAGNITUDE
-----
10.36 BILLION mkt. cap TOTAL

the list doesn't stop there - there are other CMGI companies that are growing outrageously like ENGAGE (profiling), CHEMDEX (B to B), ANCESTRY (community) that have killer models

IN ADDITION, they are tapping into real cutting edge opportunities with exciting companies like ACTIVERSE (instant messaging), BLAXXUN (virtual reality software) and THINGWORLD (intellectual property ecommerce) - OVERVALUED? i don't know if you can put a value on these early entries AND you have the diversification too in case all don't turn out a winner

here's a good link to get all their companies in one list
cmgi.com

good luck with your decision
