views on the Kosovo crisis
It's a stinking mess with no good solution. I spent some time in Yugoslavia in the late 1980s. Most of the time I was near Belgrade but I did tour some of the historic sites. Its a beautiful country and the people were nice. Inflation was terrible, Thats where I got my first million, dinar that is, I exchanged about $200 U.S.

I think religion is the root of problems there (as it is in much of the world). There were enclaves of different ethnic groups but at the borders and in the bigger cities there was much intermarriage and this eases the ethnic differences. There is no way to blend the religion though, each person has to pick from from the 3 main flavors (Catholic, Orthodox, or Muslim) with no modifications. This means this problem doesn't decrease over time.
