NATO troops in Macedonia are "peace-keeping equiped" only; not ready for the real deal.

>Use the troops you have there now in Macedonia and move into
Kosovo along the roads the refugees are using. Make contact
with forward most serb units and hold them there.

You assume that they will hold them there. IMHO, they will hold them there but some of their body parts will be missing and the political costs of seeing their bodybags return home will be unacceptable.

What's the solution here? Clearly NATO and Clinton must stop the bombing while saving face and declaring win. Milosevic will allow the refugees back and give them autonomy and KLA must disarm. If NATO stops supporting the KLA and, under covert action, cooperates with the Serbs to finishing off the KLA everything goes back to normal and peace....the way it was until KLA came out of the blue....Civilian lives are saved and Serb forces get withdrawn, autonomy, everyone looks good....If that won't work, Milosevij even agrees to free elections within two years.

Meanwhile I think we will be seeing lots more collateral damage in Belgrade...

I am just thinking off the top of my head, any comments?

Glad that people like the stratfor site.

MaartenZ, I think ourtroops in Macendonia basically were mainly light
infantry before this thing blew up...It could be changing at this time
though.Milosivic would probably disperse his troops into the mountains
and fight a guirilla war as Tito did in WWll.If he did there would be
no front lines to hold the Serbs at any given point. I'm not sure if
the American people want to get involved in another war of attrition.
