Re: I feel that sending our troops in is justified in this case. The FRY has forfeited it's sovereignty by it's inhuman actions. Things like this almost make me ashamed to be human. I mean, how can people do this to each other?

How about reading up on our own Civil War? There were plenty of inhumane acts taking place then (see centralia.missouri.org for an example). This is a civil war in a country with a culture that hardly any Americans (including myself) can understand. We don't belong there.

Off topic!

<In my (possibly wrongheaded) opinion Clinton and NATO are headed for disaster if they continue to rule out ground troops. Clinton is just worried about the poll numbers at this point, I believe.>

I totally agree. Never has a military operation totally succeeded on air power alone. As the movie Saving Private Ryan graphically illustrates, you don't win wars without letting some blood. This is a terrible price, yes, but it's a price that Clinton and NATO aren't facing up to.

So, in my opinion, either:

1) Make a plan on sending in ground troops at an appropriate time, OR

2) Cease fire altogether and consider the message to Milosovic sent, sealed, and delivered.

And Clinton, for God's sake, draw up some clearly-defined objectives for the war in Kosovo. Do you truly want to pay the price and defend ethnic Albanians? Or do you just want to send a message to Milosovic, realizing that American lives are not worth risking for a tiny east European territory? You can argue for either side, but please, take a side and stop being a fence-sitting politician.

European security is not enhanced by the presence of American troops. This is best left to the Europeans; at least we would finally learn whether or not they have the stomach for it.
