From what I have heard they all have their drawbacks. But E*Turd is trying to be very fancy; they should offer a barebones service option to people who don't want a "financial destination center".

I just want L2 and a good place to trade.

don't go to datek.

prior to a month ago, i was actively convinced that datek was worse than e-trade. i'd say now, datek is (at best) slightly better, but i wouldn't recommend active traders go to *either* one.

i've got a small amount of change in etrade, and am waiting for my account to get activated elsewhere.
