I hope it's not some perverse omen to have the financing announced on the same day as a service outage. Help me on this, but isn't a convertible of Preferred stock different than the Class C convert that helped do us in? Thanks for your excellent commentary all along.

How about this tired line, "This cash infusion furthers our ability to grow our business of providing voice-enabled services for telecommunications carriers and Internet companies," commented Steve Markman, General Magic's chairman, chief executive officer and president. "The added financing will help us build the market for voice-enabled services, which analysts predict will reach $2 billion to $3 billion by 2001 in the U.S."

In 2 or 3 years, the market will be a totally different animal to what it is today. It's clear there's a big effort to make portable phones very similar to computers. Of this 2 to 3 billion, we shall see such a wide variety of services. Its ridiculous to suggest Portico is the only kind of product to fill this demand.

<And, since I'm feeling rather bitchy right now, >

Now that you mention it, I'm feeling rather bitchy as well.
