Not yet. Haven't been able to quantify things to well, w/limited help. I'll put the idea on our list.

I remember oils popping up during the first week of March. We consolidated a bunch of 'em on the 8th, including GLBL, OEI, PGO, PDE, SFE, & FLC, etc. I looked at Falcon real hard. Great FA, and priced about perfectly for max leverage on margin, at around $6.75. I remember making the decision to stay out because of my general ignorance of the oil game, in deference to majority opinion on the probability of production cutbacks during the 23rd OPEC meeting. Oh well...:o)

Other sectors that have come through clearly are gaming & hotels, brokerages (of course), and a wide field of small cap telecomms.

There's so many really lucrative angles to play out, and such limited time. Not to mention the robust nature of all the (often free) tools. The worst part of tapping in is watching 'em fly by you because you were not attuned or refined enough to filter down to the winner :o)

If my two best blackies this week (NCES & PLDI...hype...hype) give me enough leeway, I'll have to spring to get some of my buddies aboard SI, so we can combine ideas here.

Thread/bdog, Anyone using the Metastock software product,
If so any comments, Yay or Nay

When the term "scan" is used, is this a automated process of
feeding (download, ftp ect..) information in to a "system" with predefined filters.
or is this manual/visual scan created of selected symbols.

Ok I've set my self up. Go ahead take your shots!

bdog, finished reading the book before I got the cdrom problem resolved, I liked cdrom (while it lasted) because you don't break your concentration to go look at the chart, "which is always on the !@#$@#$% next page.

From last week, NCES has some news ancilliary to its parent's, NOV's big news of a partial sale of it's business, $455M spread over 69M shares (trading @ $1 1/4...:o)) ...http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/990405/pa_novacar_1.html in which NCES announces it is seeking a strategic alliance or sale...

I expect a little bit of sympathy action, at the least. Trading the last two days was really weird on NCES. I checked the logs. Anywho, it means the scans, by spotting the smoke, are often great predeterminers of a pending fire...

We'll be adding this to both out health services sector, and the job placement sector.
