Herc,

Have you visited the thread of an internet stock? I think those
have a much higher love-affair aspect than this one. I don't want
to turn this CPU board into a discussion of those, but I would point
out that people will defend the valuation of stocks like AOL, AMZN,
and ATHM no matter what it becomes. That's true love.

As for CPU, I don't think that enough people on this board are
correctly estimating the amount of negative sentiment on the street
for this stock at this time. One little announcement, upgrade,
positive quarter, etc. isn't going to turn the price of CPU back
into the mid teens where it was. It's a Wall Street anti-darling
in my opinion. With a Wall Street darling stock (e.g. AMZN), bad
news is almost completely ignored and even the slightest trace of
good news sends the stock higher. With an anti-darling stock like
CPU, good news only causes a temporary spike which those that have
already lost big sell into. The stock price goes up following good
news but then drifts back to its pre-news price. Any bad news
takes the stock lower, well below what it should. I believe that's
what we've seen and will continue to see with CPU. Unlike most on
this board, I don't think CPU will see 10 any time within the next
six months. Maybe not within the next year. I hope I'm wrong.

That said, I believe CPU is a great bet for 15-17 within the next
two years. I believe it's oversold. However, the internet stocks
have convinced me that valuation only matters to a point in today's
stock market. Market psychology associated with a stock is also
important and must be monitored. I believe CPU's is negative...
for now.

Please no one accuse me of being a bear. I hold 1000 shares of
CPU right now and am going to be buying more as I accumulate more
capital. This is one where I'll be puting the money away and not
worrying about it in the least. I don't think CPU is another BBY
because it doesn't have the favorable product mix that BBY does.
But I do think that its business will improve.

Damon

I can't believe no one is labeling as lame-brained my blaming decreased same store sales on droppping computer prices. If you can get the same power computer 50% cheaper than the year before, the explanation does make sense.
Even the mighty Dell has had to branch out world wide in order to keep increasing revenues.
