Bezos is is the kind of person eBay could use.

I don't believe their original founder is involved with the company any more.

eBay has a big lead right now, and should be doing everything in their power to protect it.

It is my impression, however, that eBay is more concerned with adding rules and regulations than it is with making the auction experience more pleasant for everyone.

I wonder how off guard they were about Amazon's entry into this market? (They must have know last week, which probably explains their $75M deal with AOL.)

To a very large degree, Amazon has copied eBay, adding some nice cosmetic touches, and being really creative with that $250 protection offer.

eBay simply needs to copy these features from Amazon, maybe offer some incentives for people to buy (to get the buyer traffic up there), etc., and they will be fine.
