Hi Mark,

What you found was an addition to the modem's init (initialization) string. Series of codes you can put in there to increase throughput, fix connectivity problems and other issues. Your modem manufacturer and/or Internet Service Provider might have more that could help you out.

My favorite addition is M0 (zero, not O)

It turns the volume off for the connection.

Good find,

Rich

Hello everyone.
I have a problem with my laptop. Toshiba 400
Wind. 98.
I tried to install a program today and for some reason
the laptop could not recognize my floppy drive.
So I closed the program.
For some reason I can not get the computer to do anything
now. I can't get into desktop or anything.
It keeps telling me I have "bad"sectors on my drives.
I am doing a scan disk now but I have two drives on it
and I have been doing the scan disk for over 8 hours now.
It has only sanned 2% of one of the drives so far.
This is nuts.
It will take me a year to scan both drives at this rate.

I need help
thanks
