Here's a funny "trying to get @Home" story. I live in a rural area north of Baltimore. My house is twenty years old and was never wired for cable. Most of my neighbors have dishes. (West Virginia State flower) I can't get one of those nice small dishes, because I'm on the north side of a hill and the dishes need clear southern exposure. I back up to seventy foot hardwood. I could care less about cable TV....but I wanted @Home. So I call them. They're ready to come over the same week that (no waiting in Baltimore!)I call them and put it in, until I tell them, no cable. They tell me Comcast will call you and they do, five minutes later. I say I want cable....just for @Home. They say we'll send a guy out Thursday. I tell them, I'm rural, like 600 foot driveway and another 500 yards from the nearest green box. There are no poles, my utilities are buried. They say Thursday, I say ok. Wednesday guy calls sez the address isn't "servicable"....I say I told you that when I called. I ask what's the story, can I trench my own cable and meet you at the street? My yard is all torn up because we're putting in a pool. So I figure, a couple guys and a ditch witch, a few permits, no big deal. Comcast calls me back, says they'll pay for 200 feet, I pay $3/foot after that....it works out to about a thousand. I say sure, I've made so much money on this stock....I just want the service. They say we'll get back to you. Next call, it'll cost you $250, I say "sure, go ahead". Service rep says I'll call back and confirm the price after the survey. She calls back, "We'll put it in for free in April" I couldn't give these people my money! So to put an end to a long story, if you want the service, move here. >>They had better get on the stick and pump some major $$$ into infrastructure before people go elsewhereville.<<
