Larry,
Excellent article. The country's electoral process allowed a scoundrel to be elected to the presidency twice. The candidacy of third party representatives make it possible for a president to be elected with less than 50% of the vote. I would be in favor of a national presidential run-off between the top two candidates in any election in which there is a third party running for office. A run-off would allow conservative 3rd party candidates a chance to run without the fear of letting a liberal scoundrel win with less than 50% of the vote.
