Hal,

From what I've come to understand:
Over the years....'Chartists' have looked at market activity for signals
to anticipate market directional changes. To see if there might be consistant
signals for reversals...etc. There are a few that are well documented and
give a high percentage of correct signals.

So if you are trading off chart patterns, it becomes necessary to see
these indicators.
Spikes Up/Down
Double Bottoms/Tops
Tripple Bottoms/Tops
Inside Days
Outside Days
Top Reversal Days
Bottom Reversal Days
Key Reversal Days
2 Day Reversals
Weekly Reversals
Montly Reversals
There are others.....
"Technical Analysis of the Futures Markets" by John Murphy is a good example.
There are other books on the subject....
