PL,

I was VERY happy with the win98/ie5 setups 'til I ran into this SI problem and then discovered the uninstall problem. Now I'm thinking of going back to both ie4 AND win95. I'm also not real happy about the "View As Web Page" option that win98 doesn't let you turn off globally. I'm starting to get an attitude about this...

I think you're doing pretty good if you only have that encryption problem. Is there no way for you to "smuggle in" that 128 bit patch? Will it get rejected at all the sites in Europe (I assume that's where you are). I don't understand exactly why you can't get the 128 bit where you are. Could you download ie5 from the US site?

You shouldn't have any trouble with your Favorites if you uninstall. Just back up your Favorites to another folder first and then you'll be sure to have them. I just now transferred them to another disk that has win95/ie4 on it and everything came over fine. Back up your Application Data folder too -- it has your address book and emails in it.

Are you SURE you have the uninstall feature in yours? ie5 is listed in my add/remove programs screen, but when I click on it to add/remove the uninstall option is greyed out.

I didn't download the beta version -- I got it when everyone else was getting it after it was officially announced. I did download it again and tried to install it, but got a message saying that the upgraded version would ALSO have the uninstall feature disabled. THERE IS NO WAY TO GET RID OF THE THING besides erasing the drive.

HAS ANYONE OUT THERE UNINSTALLED IE5#@&!!!$$&@#??
