Colin,

"sounds like these problems of "no account" and "invalid fields" and also one other problem I have - the screen text fields "going blank", e.g. the Level II will still have the color bars but the black text is missing, are not common with EVERYONE."

I ran MBT on a slower machine than yours, a P166MMX, without seeing that color bars/no text thing. But I have 128 meg ram.

"No account" happens rarely, usually I wait 2 or 3 minutes and restart Realtick and all is well.

Colin

I have never had the invalid fields problem during the trading day. Used to run RT from a 166mhz laptop with 80 megs of ram and now use a 300mhz AMD with 128 megs, both on some real crappy internet connections. My feelings and best guess on this are that you need more ram.

FWIW, I get data backups on occasions but still don't get the above error. ie I can get the information from the lvl2 into the OES albeit it is sometimes rather out of synch with the current best bid/offer.

Hope this helps
BIll

Colin, specifically re: cable modem access

I have a Mediaone cable modem (only one way since they still don't have broadband where I live)

It loses packets every other minute. IMHO, this is a major cause of the problems you are having. I am fed up with it, but they also do not have DSL here either (NO, I DO NOT LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS AND MAKE MOONSHINE FOR A LIVING <ggg>)

I use Cybertrader too, and that is really unstable too. I am pulling my hair out. I don't think it's my machine as I have a 300 mhz with 128 MB RAM etc etc.

I really think cable modem access sucks. The minute DSL comes out, I'm switching.

Unless of course someone tells me that DSL is worse (please don't).

Good luck.
