star56,
You don't think advanced notification of IPO's from etrade is big enough of an advantage? Even if that notification comes when the IPOs come out constitutes quite an advantage. If you are a non platinum member, your only recourse is to scan the current offerings page every 5 to 10 minutes of every day.. or buy software that will do this for you..(from my experience- this software sucks). If e-members are willing to sit in front of their computer screens for hours/days/weeks on end to attain an IPO over "Platinum members(who thinks they deserve it because they are the preferred customers)- more power to them.

star, regarding your comments:

Sorry Richard, but I do not hold the same sentiment as you do. Those who trade more should have the first shot at the IPO's, whether or not they are Platinum traders. And I do believe most Platinum traders are well worth their status in trading - they are not fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants traders who frivilously jump into IPO's. And again, if ETrade is going to make traders believe they will receive an extra edge on the IPO's, they should be given that edge, not fooled into something just for the benefit of ETrade's coffers.

I agree with you, that is why I brought this topic up originally. Etrade advertises this IPO notification as a perk, but in reality it is not at this time. So, really it is an issue of false advertising. In fact, I would not even be bothered if Etrade simply updated their site to reflect the way the IPO system works for Platinum users (that being a notice after the fact typically).

As for your opinion on traders, I believe most here know what they are doing. In fact, that is why I like this board instead of yahoo's and others, some traders on here are REALLY at the top of their game!
