I believe that it doesn't matter. Here is why. Assuming Monty always gives you a chance to switch, then your first pick is always irrelevant. It is the second 50/50 pick that matters, so wether this is a switch pick or a new pick with two curtains, it was always a 50/50 chance.
If Monty sometimes allows a switch, then you would have to know if this switch opportunity is provided randomly or not. And if it was not provided randomly then you would have to know what criteria were used in deciding to provide it to begin to solve. Tim
