I wouldn't argue with Rebecca West, but Margaret Mead is wrong. Women don't want mediocre men. Each woman wants the best she can command. But by definition, the best most woman can command is mediocre. Also, sometimes a woman, while wanting the best she can command, is unable, being an idiot, to distinguish among candidates and identify the least mediocre of them.
