Compaq Desktop Inventory -- Percentage Of Resellers
Citing Each Level
John Roberts

Resellers reported slightly less balance in their inventories of Compaq desktops in February 1999 vs. February 1998, according to the CRN reseller hardware poll. Nineteen percent of resellers reported shortages of desktops, while another 12 percent reported excess supplies. Both figures were slightly higher than those seen in February 1998. Nonetheless, a strong majority of respondents said Compaq desktop supplies were about right. The February
1999 figure was actually higher than the average for the previous three or six months.

Remember the channels were severely stuffed last year. Hence, severely stuffed this year. So a lousy first quareter and a lousy second quarter are on the menu.
