Can't agree with either of the last two posts - which are to say the least narrow minded, partisan, and mean spirited and fail to see the scope of the present situation. Roosvelt hardly started WW2 which had been rolling along for 3 years before the US finally joined in and only after Pearl Harbour. I guess there are those on this thread who think that that was a mistake too - can we excuse this kind of thinking on extreme youth and inexperience?? dd

hunchback - there is a difference between, as you put it, a question which is narrow in focus and a loaded question such as yours. Well, to give a narrow answer 'Yes' there was such a question - usually posed at election time. Rather like the other question - 'don't recessions/depressions start with Republican Governments?'

Going back to the first question - the American economy came out of the depression because of WW2 (long before the US entered the war) - started not by Democrats but by Hitler. dd
