When AOL went on the NYSE, it initially received a pop. But, index fund managers had until the last day of December to include it in their portfolio. Many waited until the last day. I don't know how it works in Canada, but it seems very logical not to expect index fund managers to all include this stock today.

From press release...

"Please note the following changes to the TSE 300 Composite Index before the open on Friday, April 16, 1999: "

Would index funds be buying now to pre-adjust their portfolios for the change or do they wait until the 16th?

When previous companies were added... did their share price appreciate more with the news or with the actual TSE300 addition?
