Neal/Mary, Peck has had a negative bias towards Intel for as long as I can remember - I've owned Intel for 5 years. However, I wouldn't necessarily agree with Mary that he follows Intel's guidance. I remember that he skipped Intel's 1997 Spring analyst meeting in New York and he dismissed it as Intel propaganda. He said he'd rather be in Asia checking out the "front lines".

I agree with Peck that an Asia trip would be constructive but it's a mistake to ignore one of Intel's most important events of the year. They take it very seriously and all the top brass comes to New York in the Spring. It's very professionally done and a lot of important information is presented. Just the fact that Peck ignores an event like this, makes me wonder about him. His track record on Intel has pretty much sukced. Contrast him with Mark Edelstone (Morgan Stanley)who has been right on about Intel (bullish with a $150 price target) and attends every Intel analyst meeting, he listens attentively and takes copious notes. I should know, I notice these things and I've witnessed it personally in New York.

By the way, I've heard Peck referred to as Peckerhead on this thread before and I wouldn't necessarily disagree with that.

Good luck,

Doug
