The April 19 earnings and future forecast will definitely determine the direction of VLSI stock price in the intermediate term! If VLSI beats the whisper numbers, then no body can take them over unless they offer $ 30 or better!

Linda,

I think that the effect on VLSI's stock price if Philips withdraws its offer is a matter of timing. To restate my previous post in a slightly different manner, I think VLSI management could be stalling the takeover to allow what they perceive to be improving fundamentals to become apparent to investors. If Philips withdraws it's offer before this is clear to investors, and before another offer is known or leaked to the market, then the stock would probably suffer more. If VLSI can drag the takeover out for three to six months, I think the stock will survive even if Philips pulls its offer and no other suitor steps up. At that point, I think the turnaround in VLSI's business will be clear to investors and the stock will have support from it's own fundamentals. At this particular time, I think the takeover is supporting the stock to a greater extent than the fundamentals. Again, I don't know if any of what I'm saying is true. It's just conjecture on my part and I tossed it out for consideration and discussion.

Dan

Linda and all,

Just letting you know that I dumped most of my VLSI stock today.
I'm not getting a "good feel" from the news articles hitting
the street, and the way things are progressing.
I'm taking my money somewhere else, since these talks are
dragging out.

Two things could happen which will hurt the stock holders.
I believe that the poison pill could be implemented, or even
Phillips dropping their offer for the company. Due to these
potential axes falling on our necks, I'm out.

I'll keep looking at the posts here to see what happens.

Good Luck
