SONY TO OFFER ONLINE TRADING IN JAPAN THROUGH NEW FIRM

TOKYO, Apr 06, 1999 (Asia Pulse via COMTEX) -- Sony Corp. (TSE:6758)
announced Monday it has established a subsidiary that will offer online
securities trading beginning in October. Capitalized at 50 million yen,
Monex Inc. is owned 50% by Sony and 50% by Ooki Matsumoto, an advisor
to Goldman Sachs Corp.

Matsumoto will serve as president and Sony will appoint two part-time
directors.

The new company will combine Matsumoto's expertise in securities
trading with Sony's knowledge of networking and electronic settlement
technologies.

It will mainly target individual investors. (Nikkei)
