Well BB, I still don't buy your argument on QWERTY, and my belief is not fixated on some internet page. My dear 'ole Mom put herself through school typing scientific manuscripts for publication and she 'splained the goofy keyboard to a young me. I can't recall anything she has been wrong on. -g-

But IF somebody had had the cojones(sp?) to actually take out that 125% mortgage a coupla months ago and actually bought AOL stock---look they would've paid off the mortgage this week...Wish I would have! Why is it a ponzi scheme to capitalize on a society in transition from one prevailing technology to another? AOL is a legitimate company with real revenue and growth. As for entering the age of big brother: I would argue that we are exiting the age of big brother. 1984 is long past us. The anamalous last fifty years spanned a time period of unparalleled mass indoctrination thanks to the control of three television networks that held first generation television owners enthralled and for many practical purposes downright hypnotized. The time period between Milton Berle and MTV was characterized by audience shares of hundreds of millions of people swallowing three similar lines of propaganda day in and day out. That era of naivete is a bygone era. People who grew up before the 70's are unfortunately stuck in a passive mindset and resist interactive media. Thanks to the proliferation of cameras, satellites and cable, and the internet, democracy has been granted a few fresh oxygen tanks. Of course many people will continue to choose the safety and security of limited choice and that is the danger that threatens all of us. You think U.S. citizens suffer from big brother. Can you imagine if masked gunmen were to try and take whole "villages" in THIS country like they're doing in slavic homelands? Yeah--try storming into American homes---they may be overmortgaged but they're also armed!
