OT **** In the Army and Marines, I don't know about the other services, the top cover on the bed is a thin woolen blanket. When the blanket is tucked in very tightly, you can throw a quarter onto the cover and the cover will act like a trampoline and bounce the coin. The higher the bounce, the tighter the cover is tucked in..... in the service, the inspecting officer would go around the barracks and bounce a quarter on each bed to make sure we made a tight bed..... you have to be there..... it was a discipline thing... you know, boots and buckles shined and so on.....
