There are eery similarities to the ASND deal: both networkers of sorts that made big acquisitions and saw their stock tumble. However, there is one huge difference. ASND was making money all the while. They were always making money. A few pennies less than expectations, I believe, caused their initial fall to start with (along with the Cascade purchase). However, then ASND went on a tear, beating estimates every quarter for 5 or 6 quarters before the LU takeover.

Ciena is barely breaking even right now, and has clearly implied that losses are a very real possibility. So, this ain't quite like the ASND ride in every detail, though I wish it were.
