The difference is in the number of hops. Hosts sited at abovenet invariably have fewer hops than at other places, because abovenet has such great connectivity with isps. Our web site is at water-cooler.com . We are writing software for message boards like this and hope to get it into general use. Currently, we have groups set up for various industry groups, but very little traffic. We are trying to get it into more general use. Soon, we'll have a feature where a web master can add a message board to his/her web site, with custom background etc. Still more of a hobby than a business.
