I hate to waste time, and it is quiet in the bathroom and it has a LOCK on the door.

There is something about perusing some prose on the throne that has a beneficial relaxing effect on smooth muscle. I might be in agony from imminent need - but I will not retire to the powder room until i have found something worth reading.

Are there really so many people who have such a hard time doing the business for which a toilet was made?

For those of us with children, the toilet is often the only place we can read undisturbed. I find that a trip to the bookstore is often followed by severe attacks of constipation.

It would be interesting if there was a way to keep track of what people read when they know nobody is looking. If, for example, a respectable intellectual household placed copies of Dissent, Commentary, and Hustler beside the throne, which would wear out the fastest? If the magazines were placed in the living room, which would wear out the fastest?

Woody Allen once announced that Dissent and Commentary were going to merge and form a publication called Dysentery.

my my what I have missed on this thread!

I had to check, and the last peice of news print or literature in my bathroom is the BAM(Bay Area Magazine) dated August of '95. It's a special on the death of Garcia.

Don't think I ever got to reading the whole thing though.

p.s. now I see the conversation is revolving around weapons, again. oh boy. glad I found a rather passive post to reply to<g>
