This is not just NETA specific. Almost every company is getting hit. NETA just comes to mind cause of all the publicity surrounding it. I just dont see them missing by much, in fact from what I can see I woudl expect them to blow out the numbers. None of the tell tale signs are there if they were not doing good. It could just be that larson is also tired of defening all the time and is just waiting to deliver some good news rather than giving things out piece meal. If it werent for melissa I would say yea good chance they would miss. But Y2K problems or not large companies got a pinful lesson on security and what will happen if they try to scringe on spending cuts where it is needed.

CSFB analyst reieterates a BUY and reports the following:

Before entering its quiet period, NETA management appeared comfortable with our and consensus' Q199 $0.49 estimate. But we believe March would typically represent 45-55% of thequarter's revenue.
NETA appears to be making progress in the resolution of its in -process R&D investigation by the SEC. We believe the SEC is reviewing 1998 and 1997 transactions. It appears likely that NETA will release its 1998 10K by theend of March.
We believe NETA will announce Q199 earnings the week of April 19th. NETA's 1998 operating cash flow appears to have been equal or higher than net income. This would lend support to the thesis that revenue recognition has not been overly aggressive. We remain at a BUY rating.

J.O.

Maybe some are viewing the flurry of PR announcements by NETA as a smokescreen.

That's been the history.

"I think Larson is making a huge mistake by not preannouncing (assuming there's a shortfall in revenues or earnings)."

You're kidding, right? With the huge sell-off on huge volume, I think it is pretty obvious that some preannouncements have been made - just not publicly.
