You keep going on about the death penalty. It is some governments that think it is barbaric, you will find that their citizens do not. Canada is a classic, full of anti death penalty government Members of Parliament, but the populace is about 75% in favour.

I'm not American but if the US Federal government came into Texas and proclaimed martial law and closed the Texas government down and rescinded all laws passed by Texas, i think there would be merry hell to pay.

You know, although I enjoy writing down my thoughts, because it helps me to organize them, I do not believe some people are capable of seeing both sides. I can certainly understand the people who want to aid victimized people- I have felt great empathy for the peoples of Rwanda, and Cambodia, and the Balkans, and Tibet (and to go back further, partition era India, the Holocaust victims of ALL nationalities, etc etc). But acting on empathy alone will not make good foreign policy. Why you and I realize this and other people do not is an interesting question. I doubt you and I are less humane than others on this thread. I think we are just realists and utilitarians (I know I am) and we are concerned with the future while some of these other participants on this thread are idealists and are only concerned with the here and now- which (imo) can lead you into grave danger.

<< Good god, man, learn your facts. Kosovo is a province of Yugoslavia. >>

Hopefully not much longer. Slob Milosevic has shown that Serbia and Kosovo should be separate countrys.

Especially after this latest attack by Serbia against the people of Kosovo.

Good god, man, do you think that the Kosovo people are ever going to trust the Serbs, or their leader Slob Milosevic again? It is over. The only solution is to beat back the Serbs and then maintain a separate homeland for Kosovo, protected by NATO troups.

What would you do? What's your solution? Do you want NATO to pull out right now and leave over a million Kosovo people homeless and pennyless? Do you want the Serbs to get away with murdering and stealing and raping?

Who do you think will be the next target if NATO pulls out? How about Montenegro? That would be the next area of ethnic cleansing. What would be next? Perhaps Macedonia? Would madman, runt Slob Milosevic build up his military and eventually attack Bosnia?

I wonder how many Serbs, who disagreed with Slob Milosevic, are in prison? Surely there must be Serbs who condemn the atrocities in Kosovo.
