Also the internet offers better granularity for potential customers. Name the esoteric item you want to sell... parrots, walkie-talkies, vintage clothing, whatever - you can target your market with the internet like you never could before with traditional media. There is an entire mid-range group a retailers that never did media advertising before but will now I believe. Analysts don't seem to mention this since dclk is still in the formative stages but it is significant long term I believe.

I actually trade this stuff in and out so I want to say up front that I am talking about fundamentals only. I just traded CLAI. Bought at 11 sold at 18 and I don't even know what they do other than .com. I think that net ads, if they really research them, are not as effective as people think. I swear that I am to the point I don't even see them where with TV adds it is hard to ignore that it is "that time of the month" I think the success falls in line with a panic. Panic as in CPQ paying 200million for Shopping.com and panic as far as placing adds everywhere just to stay up. Of course over time reality will set in and a more objective analysis of net advertising will prevail rather than some sleeping analyst waking up after the stock doubles in a week that stating that it is a buy.

I love all the internet banners..especially the ones on sites like NewsAlerts and Clearstation that all say Doubleclick as they load :)

Really now, I like them because how else would I find all the cool sites and offers and the wealth of information available here on the world wide web? And instant links to those sites? What more could you ask for? Internet Advertising has to have something to do with the fact that it has been over a year since I've been to the mall. Why wait in line at the gap when their site sends it to you in 48 hours. This is the shopping of the future and the advertising $ spent will be enormous. Long Doubleclick and also a sales promotion designer.. part of the reason I like the ads I guess :).
