I trade terribly on emotion or intuition or whatever. I seem to be having success using a mechanical system, so I will be long when it says long, short when short, and try and ignore the intraday feelings when I get a chance to look at the screen. My preliminary research indicates it is best actually is to put in orders before each day and turn off any quotes during the day, for daily/weekly trading (at least for me). Otherwise I have had success selling OTM options, but only because of the time and because I forced myself to be conservative. For example I would sell a put at 1000 strike when the market was at 1200, the market goes to 1100 at expiration and I make 100%, but I was wrong about the direction...
