To: Ibexx, Frank Wechsler Bernie has not felt wireless to be an essential element in his strategy, witness his past comments and failure to bid in the Airtouch-Vodaphone merger. I question whether wireless is critical to the WCOM master plan, especially with Iridium coming on line, Globalstar right behind, and other satellite telecoms also on the horizon. Do the Fortune 500 (or 1000) require that their Telecom handle all aspects of communication? Wireless, underseas cable, Internet, International? And if wireless is a missing element in WCOM, why not an alliance with an international provider like Vodaphone-Airtouch? Why buy a Nextel which has such a limited capability, compared to the needs of WCOM? I have been long this stock since it was LDDS, and have been buying it for my granddaughters' custodial accounts, and for my sister, which makes me sort of a family hero. (And I also have been heavy into Airtouch.) Bernie has shown a magic touch as deal-maker, shrugs off the criticism and events subsequently prove him right. But no one is perfect (except my wife's first husband). Thanks for your thoughtful responses to my comments. RSSheldon
