Yes, I read that Bertlesmann is helping them out in most of Europe where they have great name recognition and know how to do business.

I expect that there will be many new things happening over the few years where the media companies get together with major retailers and others to forge alliances. The "fulcrum of commercial power" or whatever you want to call it, will shift from broadcast media to digital media. When the Internet develops to the point where broadband communications is prevalent, the content of the Internet will have changed drastically. Just putting up products with a bit of information won't be able to cut it. The media companies combined with major advertising agencies can turn themselves into Internet content engines with massive creative power. I'm sure that Bezos has something like this in mind for a few years down the road - but he needs to start planning and positioning Amazon now.

There will be a new type of advertisement (ad edutainment?) industry that will develop, IMO. The job of advertising will change from mind games to more in depth education and display of a product or serives features and benefits. The broadcast media just doesn't have the richness or ability to do on-demand ad edutainment. The Internet will revolutionize the way we buy things.
