T, Our position, other than the military thing, resembles Japan in the mid 1980s. I remember the bulls saying then that there was simply no way to stop Japan, Inc. Actually, we just had to let them do their thing and they shot themselves in the foot with easy money. We are doing the same.

Good description of the way the world seems to be working. But things have a way of changing.

I am curious about the theory behind your personal strategy though...you said you are eliminating your debt. Why is debt currently undesirable, given the likelihood of rates going higher? If the entire debt explosion gets truly unserviceable, isn't it better to be on the side owing money rather than holding a promissory note? I appreciate your thoughts, as I too am trying to position my family sensibly for the BK (which I know is a myth <g>).
