Re: SCSI Host Adapters

I like Initio. Much better support than Adaptec, also.

Richard,

I just put three boxes together and on a Spots/ZP/Sean mention plus a few "locals" I went with Mylex cards. The Ultra was half the price of a "comparable" Adaptec, and had an embedded BIOS that allowed me to boot NT setup off of SCSI CD-ROMs. With the Adaptec I would have needed boot floppies (Mylex cake, yummy!). Industry leading standing, Linux support, included RAID support! FOR $60, HOLY COW!!! If you are serious into SCSI look at the dual (Flashpoint DL) channel that ZP mentioned. For "my" next box I know I will :).

I finalized on the In-Win Q500a (Spots), Celeron 400s (overclocking results to be announced), and IBM drives (they are so damn quiet!)

Gentlemen.
