Virtually all of my larger clients have been doing Y2K compatibility testing for the past 12-24 months. Once they certify their infrastructure and applications, they plan to add no more. In fact, most stopped adding already, and purchases are in the areas of technology already vetted. This is only my experience in my own little corner of the world, but I've been betting on it being a common scenario. In software/technology, I think the task now is to identify areas that are likely to rise above this. I think bricks and mortar ERP apps and security are being hit because they are far-reaching types of software, which neccessitates testing the whole damn thing over again - which no one has time to do.
