about the only way to tell the difference between sandies/stripers/sandstiper hybrid is to count the lateral lines ... from memory seems the striper has unbroken lines -- 17 or so in number
sandie has either one or two more or one or two less , can't recall, and the hybrid has broken lateral lines ..

the hybrids are in the majority around here ... they grow to above 20 pounds
the local lakes (75 mi radius) all have hybrids
the're easy to catch early and late when all one has to do is "follow the birds" as the schools herd up the threadfin shad as they feed like pigs and the birds come in goodly numbers to feast on the floaters, cripples, and pieces of shad ......
