Tony, RE:<<anyone else hear that Microsoft won't be merging Windows 98 and NT into Windows 2000 anymore?>>

It has always been my impression that Win2000 is an upgrade of NT, and has nothing to do with Win98. In fact, I thought that Win98 is a dead end. Is my impression incorrect?

Hi Tony, Re: "anyone else hear that Microsoft won't be merging Windows 98 and NT into Windows 2000 anymore? Source not the best, local stock news (KCBS)."

Re: "must be...that they...separate the two OS's."

Source of the KCBS article was the Wall Street Journal

The article appeared yesterday online. It was actually very funny since the implication was that MSFT would publish the source code for the kernel so that the world could help them out fixing the bugs.

Then they likened this to Linux. Since Linux source code publishing and adoption follows an academic like publication rigor (you can't get buggy code adopted) the article was doubly amusing.

At the same time MSFT claims it will release the final beta of Win2000 by the end of April. Right. Your company goes first.
