A couple of issues...one is whether Y2K will rear its head in 2nd half of 1999 will result in IT spending paralysis. IMO another serious issue is MSFT's expansion in Business intelligence field via SQL Server 7 and Office 2000. SQL 7 already has OLAP services and PivotTable services built in to it. Combined with a beefed up Excel and Access 2000 client, MSFT clearly is driving to grab a much bigger chunk of this market than in the past, where Excel and Access are currently still underpowered vs. Impromptu and PowerPlay. I have seen some pretty slick OLAP products using Excel as a front end and connection to a SQL 7 DB. FWIW, I will be watching response tomorrow with interest. At least on paper (.47 vs. .43), should do well...?
