ron....many adsl offerings are in the $50 a month range and installation one time charges about $300.
Cable from ATHM and Roadrunner are about $39 a month ...Roadrunner offers a second PC connection for $10 extra. One time setup about $100.

The key point is that adsl offerings are not all at the 1.5Mspeed ..several are at 640kb and 384kb...due to limits on the telco infrastructure.

Even with your own adsl line ...all those lines connect to a central office and you can get traffic jams at the central site.

Bottom line either solution is much better than 56kb dialup...
If you have a choise in your area to pick and choose cable vrs adsl..you need to look a little closer at what speed the telco supports.

Good luck..
