Heh, OT

True story, when my second son was 1 year old we went to Aruba for Christmas, 1985. I shopped around 5th Avenue NY because I really wanted this stupid watch, a Patek Phillipe.

They wanted 10 Grand.

The day before Christmas my father-in-law wanted me to buy myself a Cam-Corder because he had just bought a VCR and he wanted me to film the kids in Aruba.

At Crazy Eddies, I sprang for the CamCorder, a VCR for myself, a new television, while in line I told a kid to "go get me that MicroWave". The works. Dec. 26 the 4 of use took a First Class Flight to Aruba and on the 27th I went into Arangestadd or whatever the name of that city in Aruba is and saw my watch. Only 6 Grand. A steal!!!

After years of perhaps spending a hundred a month on American Express they seemed a bit concerned that I had just blown perhaps upwards of 20 Grand in two or three days and fled the country but they let me buy the watch anyway.

Last time I wore it was my 20th Wedding anniversary. We went into NYC and by chance I had it appraised. 19 Freakin' Grand.

Now it sits in the desk and yes, the bartender tells me the time.
