Dale,

I've gathered that used in a binocular environment (ex. glasses with two scanning sources) would give you all the 3D you can wish for.

During the conference call, MVIS representatives were talking about medical uses of VRD, and they gave an impression that new fields were being explored and would be announced later this year(?).

Now, let's combine 3D & Medical: Diagnostics use MRT to create images of the patients inner secrets. Could that image be channeled through VRD and superimposed for giving a surgeon a really good view of what he/she is up to during an operation? Just a thought.

Kim

Applications

There are three principal categories of applications for the VRD.

The first is the wearable "augmented reality" display. This display can be incorporated into eyeglasses, goggles or helmets. And the image can be superimposed without blocking the user's view, as in the example of the bomber pilot.

The second sort is the 3-D interactive display. This application is "fully immersive," the company says, creating a total simulation environment and, incidentally, a pretty good environment for a video-game and arcade application.

The third variety is the hand-held 2-D display, which could be integrated into the cell phone or pager, providing access to images from business networks, Internet, email, faxes, and the like with the fidelity, it is said, of a desk-top monitor.
