StockOperator: <<After today's trading we have the DOW, NAZ and S&P all at record highs.>> Don't forget the semi's are breaking out also. They could be a leading indicator of the tech industry.

Jaime

SO, i agree with what you say about battapaglia and tice. both are men of strongly held convictions, and tice is obviously the one who keeps on losing money (his prudent bear fund is short amzn, guidant, dell et al.). but let's not write off tice altogether. he makes valid points about the overvaluation of the you-know-whos. and while it seems increasingly likely that the market will become even more overvalued, it would be wrong to be complacent about the bubble.
anyway, i still don't see the extremes of bullish sentiment i would expect at a top, so the new highs have to be respected.

regards,

hb

SPX 9 day RSI at 70
INX2 9 day RSI at 80 (on the 6th when leaders aol, amzn and yhoo peaked)

both in the over bought level, the jan peak where respectively 83 and 90 9 day rsi.

while the market can rally for weeks on end above 70 rsi off an very oversold bottom like 1/12 and 10/8/98 i doubt the market has much upside here, especially with the narrowness of the rally.

While the nasdaq made a new high on Friday, the NDX did not, mostly internet flyers going up on Friday.

Rut did breakout Friday, maybe that was the Captains small cap speculation at the top -g-

and then there is this
