Spent about half an hour selling a customer a Tangerine (finally!) but then found out we only had a few Lime and Bondi. :0

She took the Lime. :)

Observations at various resellers and Apple Specialist stores indicate that channel inventory has been fairly low in recent weeks.

Eric,

How do you view the low channel inventory. For example, do you see it as half full or half empty? Do you see Apple as experiencing (for whatever reason) production problems that will cut into sales for Q3? Do you see it as a positive in that Apple is doing a great job managing its inventory? Seems to me that backlogs are not desirable if they get too long. TIA

Sam

Eric, thanks for all your diligence. From your link, I note that except for the DVD version, the reseller had all the Pro models in stock for the entire quarter. Including the 400 mhz version. Now when's the last time Apple was able to keep its highest end Pro models in stock at the time of launch? Sacramento must be humming!

And the DVD's were available for more than half the quarter.

And as discussed at the investor's meeting you hosted in January, the pro models generally have a margin in the thirties.

People who make judgements about this company (including downgrades, boo hiss) solely on the iMac, pro and con, are off-base.

Btw, using your projections-- appleinvestors.com --I would say that if Apple fully insulated itself from the rev B price drop, that margins should grow from last quarter. And that means at 1530 M revs, we're talking high sixties or even seventies. Of course that's a big assumption, and Apple did seem to run quite a bit of television ads this quarter.
