Listen up people Compaq's problem is their own & not Dell's->Read this->

Hi Kemble and thread:

Make no mistake, the perceived 'problems' in the industry are company specific (though it applies to most like Micron (warned),CPQ (warned),IBM, and HP) and not Dell's problem, this at least according to Dell's pronouncement at the analysts meeting concluded yesterday.

I,for one, have no reason to doubt Dell's management but I have reasons to doubt the other less than truthful outfits.

Read this again before jumping into conculsions.

Kemble, Hi!

RE: Compaq Warning

It is amazing how quickly DELL is taking over this business. I originally thought that the market was so large that Compaq would go its way and DELL would go its way. In fact, the DELL model is going BOTH ways-and fast! Take a look at this quote from Aaron Goldberg's report from Infobeads:

"The preliminary results from the Projected Market Monitor survey of US workplaces in the first quarter of 1999 reveal that for the first time ever, Dell has surpassed Compaq in total PC shipments within the workplace segment."

You can view the entire report at: "http://www.infobeads.com/INSIDER/PAGES/TOPICS/COMMERCIAL_PC/...

or try: "http://www.infobeads.com/Insider/Pages/Main/Main.asp" and look under the commercial PC section for the report titled " Dell Strikes Back".

Best,

Duncan
